Trywydd is the outcome of Dewis, a successful European-funded project which commenced in 2002. The project employed translators and interpreters to work with the communities of Carmarthenshire to provide affordable written and simultaneous translation services. The aim was to encourage individuals, companies and organisations to use the Welsh language in their business.

At the end of the project in 2008, and having built an excellent local reputation, Dewis was subsequently rebranded and established as Trywydd under the management of Menter Bro Dinefwr. Trywydd aimed to enhance its existing translation services, further develop a new Welsh language consultancy and provide these professional services throughout Wales.

Trywydd is now a limited company by guarantee, no: 6859582. It prides itself on being a social enterprise – all profits are reinvested in the future development of Trywydd and its sister company, Menter Bro Dinefwr.

Trywydd’s Chief Executive is Owain Siôn Gruffydd, and its Corporate Services Manager is Catrin Parry Williams. It has an elected Board of Directors that meets on a bimonthly basis.
